Zen journey

Regents park, London
Relaxing with the Zen journey series - Zen journey

Going to an event at Serbian embassy tonight. Love to hear how other people see my country. Serbia used to be part of my country, so I still take it as something close to me.

Relax and sleep well x

Meditation for healing a cold

Regents Park flowers
My back is now healed as if there was never any stiffness there. I've visited chiropractic, done pilates and yoga (carefully) and a lot of focus softening of the back muscles. Very simple relaxation into every group of muscles around my spine, shoulders, hips... Meditation focused on my back.

As this is sorted, windy and cold weather and friends with cold brought me a special present of full nose and occasional wild sneezing. So here we go: Immune Boost Guided Visualization. Enjoy! x

How long shall I meditate for?

I am going through another cold. Less than two months after I've been through the previous one.
In my seven years of wellbeing centre career I had only had a flu once. Once in seven years. My working hours there were often 9am - 8pm, with a break for lunch in between. I've eaten less than I do now, I've slept less, though I had better health. Better immune system.
Now I work in preventive medicine field and we are throwing cold at each other like a table tennis ball. What is going on?
Will I have to go back to regular hour meditation practice per day?
Deepak Chopra meditates at least two hours a day, I've heard him saying in one of the interviews. Why do I think that I can get results easy, without that many hours invested?
How long should you meditate? An interesting thought about it here: How long shall I meditate for?
Considering my aspirations to understand and love the whole world, I definitely need to increase the time.
Sleep well x

19 pages of edit

19 pages of edit more... I got a bit blocked and just couldn't do anything for a couple of days, so last night I said I will not go to sleep until I edit at least two pages. And I did, went to bed just before 1am, looking awful now, but it feels great! Moving on! :-)

Deep relaxation for back pain problems

Research on back problems showed me strong connection of back aches with stiffness. Stiffness because of sedentary work, focus on computer screen, generally feeling rigid... So I am relaxing into my back through today's silent meditation. Relax, soften, relax with attention on my back. Wishing you all healthy backs my friends!

Lower back pain

Mmm, strudel from Cafe du Marche
Woke up on Saturday with a very stiff lower back which is today even more in pain. Better after yesterday's pilates, this morning again sore. Yoga teacher Sebastian massaged me with green thai oil during lunch time which is now making me feel tingly but pretty pleasant in that area. Will spent Saturday healing this pain,  reading now about what causes it:   Deepak Chopra on back pain

I think I fit most of the causes described on Deepak's post. I might have been stressing myself too much with the ''relationship'' or lack of the romantic relationship in my life around Valentine's time.

Wishing you great meditation time everyone, lots of love x

For the love of French

Tired and feeling lonely so just meditation will not do it for me tonight. Found this wonderful topic: Are French Men Irresistible? to take me into the dream world. Definitely agree with writer Tish Jett on her number one top reason why French men are irresistible. Mmmm...
Feeling hungry now...     Bisous xx

29 pages of edit and then...

Relaxed and meditated. Though I am a bit sad as mum told me she misses me. I have to edit and write faster to have more time for her. Been good today with editing, only 29 pages are still awaiting me, than I can start posting my work around, praying and ''see what happens''.

Au revoir! x

Fresh air and a walk

Meditated but can't really relax properly in the last few days. So I will go now for a walk with friends that live on the outskirts in a very green part of London. It's a bright day here, enjoy your Sunday!

Savina Atai - a pearl from Slovenia

Savina Atai
Started today's morning with  40 min of exercises and self-massage from Savina Atai's DVD. Refreshed, peaceful and vital. It is in Slovene language, as soon as I find something hers in English will share with you.

So beside messy and confused politics and some of the economy struggling, Slovenia has pearls. Savina Atai is for me one of the brightest.

Short break - deep relaxation

with lovely  Slovene photographer Arne Hodalic
Read slowly. Follow instructions through.
Deep breath in, deep breath out. Deep breath in, and ... out. Relax your shoulders. Relax into your chest. Softly expand your belly during breathing. Relax into your hips and legs, down your calves and into your feet.
Whole body is soft, enjoying deep relaxation. If you feel tiredness coming out make sure you rest more over the weekend. If there is pain somewhere relax into that area even more.
Sit in quiet. Close your eyes for a few minutes.
And now relax even deeper. Take yourself deeper. Allow yourself to relax really really deep.
Enjoy energy refreshment  x

Energy training

Last night we discussed the word energy with a friend of mine. I always talk about training energy, as that's the vocabulary we were using at shen qi and energy rejuvenation training. It is a wording that is very broad and vague for someone that hasn't done that. Training energy actually in my case means taking care of my health and wellbeing and meditating for inner peace and calmness. When I am calm, I can make healthy decisions and enjoy life more. Words - can include and exclude people. I am now going to use a more all including expressions.

Namaste

Calmness

Let today be calm, recharging: Calmness with Nawang Khechog

I got my peace yesterday after I've read through Slovene papers and understood Slovenia's up to date politics a bit more. It is still in its teenage years so it doesn't have a calmness effect. But then which country is really mature to have that?

enjoy your day :)

Gratitude

with Ritesh Chaturvedi
Sometimes you need one person to express their belief in you and it can move further your entire life. Through today's meditation I am feeling gratitude towards those people in my life.

Ritesh that I met this evening might just be one of those people.

Good night :)

Slovenia - in lots of pictures!

You know I like to discuss here whatever currently presses me and looks like my love for my home country got reawakened by recent events. Here is a sweet blog from someone that has been living in Slovenia for a couple of years and posted lots of pretty pictures and also interesting observations to know about the country: So you want to go to Slovenia?

A short history of Slovenia

Bled, Slovenia
This recent event of comparing Slovenia with North Korea by a person that actually lives in Slovenia, made me restless. I couldn't sleep last night either so I went and read more of our recent history and how it actually came about, that a certain group of people feels so much repression and resentment in our space. Slovenes have been living in the current space for more than a 1000 years. We had our own country for a bit less than 200 years and then we were always part of some other bigger unit. We kept our language, protestants helped a lot with printing bible in domestic language, and in 1848 Slovenes required more rights and more independence from Austro-Hungarians. They were not happy with the conditions so in 1918 they joined a Kingdom of Serbs, Croatians and Slovenes. The kingdom had a parliament made of members of different political parties. The Nazis invaded in 1941. And Italians and Hungarians and even our cousins Croatians. King flew to London and led his army from London. There were more defense groups formed. Some had a vision to cooperate with Nazis and negotiate more independence from them, some decided to fight for total freedom. Partisans we one of those ''total freedom''groups. They were made of different clubs and organisations. One of the groups was a communist party which in 1937 had only 250 members. They started with their guerrilla fight activities against Germans and Italians. Germans had a rule for every killed German soldier, 10 Slovenes were shot dead. They also deported lots of Slovenes to concentration camps and they had a plan to actually denationalize our space (move Slovenes out of Slovenia, move Germans and others to our territory, so Slovenes would eventually forget we were Slovenes). Now if you were Slovene you either were waiting at home when is your time to be shot or sent to a concentration camp or you joined or helped one of the fighters groups. Which one? Probably the one that most of your family and friends supported. Sometimes I imagine even family members had divided opinions which side to take. The one that cooperates with Nazis and sees less damage to the nation will be made this way, or the ones that wanted total freedom? Or the kings army?

Partisans during the course of the war became the strongest fighting force against Nazis and Fascist. They got recognized by allies from the west (UK, US) and east (Soviet Union). Slovene force that was for cooperation with Nazis fought and was killing partisans. One of the reasons was also because communist party became the strongest politically among partisans and said that after the war the government will be formed by members of its party.

End of the war. All invaders are going home. Germans, Italians and also allies go home. Yugoslavia and Slovenia are free from invaders. But there is a strong danger of civil war. How can you live next to your neighbor that fought against you and killed your brothers, friends? What would stop the force that was for cooperation with Nazis to not step together and try to get in power, overtake government etc.? It is 1945. You fought on the side of partisans. Meaning you slept in the woods, were frozen, hungry, frightened... What do you do? You make sure any danger to your peace and freedom is removed. I get violent when I am tired and my next door neighbor has his TV loud on. Horrible things continued to happen and more people had been killed and imprisoned. When having a strong judgement about this in today's times of safety, warm shelter and food on the table please make yourself go back in time. I don't think any of us who did not experience the horror of the war can imagine how that effects you.

Lots of people were killed after the war to make sure peace stays in the country. 1948 Yugoslavia decided to break up with communism and develop its own economic system. There was a danger Soviet Union will attack us. Again anyone suspicious to be a Soviet spy got imprisoned or killed. Till early 90s most leadership positions in the country politically and economically were made of people that either were or supported partisans or were people that returned from concentration camps. Yes, till early 70s anyone that had stronger opinions and represented a danger was warned, and imprisoned or killed. But in the 70s, these are the times when my parents got active, and if you wanted to be active in the community you had to join communist party, there was space to have different opinions, space to say no to something you disagreed with. And you did not go straight to prison for that. Until 90s when Slovenia became independent and we got a system with more political parties.

Do we have to be resentful to all that was happening from 1941 - 1990s? We do exist as a nation because of partisans that were politically overtaken by communism. We might have the same destiny as Slovenes that lived in Trieste (today Italy) if we waited for US, UK, NZ and other allies to save us. I am personally proud of every single Slovene that stood up and said enough of this 1000 years of tyranny of the Germanic and Italian nations. It is my personal opinion not every Slovene carries. You might have a different opinion. But this is all now history.

Contemporary Slovenia is learning to integrate economic system of the West. Some people adjusted well, some are struggling. Young population knows they don't have much choice. They have to be entrepreneurial and find their way or sit at home all depressed as there are not many jobs out there. It's not easy. But I much rather have this than going back to 1941.

With love and peace
